Here at Warren Restoration, one of the many services that we provide is wind damage restoration. While we definitely have the right skills and experience to return your home or business to its former glory following wind damage, we also understand that every property owner would rather avoid that damage altogether. While our team cannot guarantee that your home or building will never be harmed by high-speed winds, we can offer a few tips for how to reduce the risk of wind damage.
- Check Your Roof and Gables- Two of the most common victims of wind damage are the roof and gables of a building, so we encourage you to have these areas inspected regularly to ensure that they are in the best possible condition. By making sure that your roof has enough nails per shingle and is otherwise sturdy, you will reduce the likelihood of the wind ripping parts of it off. (The same goes for the gables, the parts of the walls right under the ends of the roof.)
- Invest in Impact-Resistant Shutters- Another step you can take to reduce the risk of wind damage to your property is to fit your windows and glass doors with impact-resistant shutters. By closing these shutters over the glass, you will protect it from impact damage, as well as from any damage due to changes in the air pressure.
- Clear Your Yard- A third way that you can reduce your risk of wind damage is to clear your yard of anything that the wind might pick up and hurl towards your building. If you have outdoor furniture or décor, find some way to secure it so that it doesn’t go crashing into your home or business. You can bring your items inside, store them in your garage, or even sink them in your swimming pool if you have one.
