Limitations on Standard Compliance: Water Damage

  • The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) published the IICRC Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Water Damage Restoration (S500) for use by professionals in the water damage restoration industry. Paragraphs 8,4,5 and 10.1 of the IICRC S500 Standard highly recommend the Provider advise the Client of limitations on compliance with the standard.

    The IICRC S500 Standard defines “Limitation” as a restriction placed upon the Provider by another party that limits:

    The scope of work to be performed, the type of procedures or remediation activities to be conducted, or the results that can be expected from the remediation process.

    Acknowledgement: The undersigned client, being the building owner, owner’s representative, or resident, hereby acknowledges that the Provider identified below advised him/her that one or more of the following limitations are being placed on the remediation project located at the property address above.

    One or more of these Limitation(s) are currently affecting the restoration project:

  • I further acknowledge that the Provider explained to me that the limitation(s) above prevent the Provider from fully complying with the recommendations of the IICRC S500 Standard sections and paragraphs as listed. Furthermore, the limitation(s) may have consequences that hinder the effectiveness of the restoration process and make complete restoration unlikely.

    I hereby release and agree to hold harmless the Provider and its affiliates, agents, officers, employees, consultants, franchisor, successors, heirs, administrators and all other related persons, firms, corporations, associations or partnerships, associated with the project located at the address stated above, of and from any and all claims, actions, causes of action, demands, rights, damages, costs, expenses and compensation whatsoever, which I may now have or may have in the future as a result of the Documented Limitations.

    Per the homeowner’s request, we are removing equipment.
